About Lala’s Brooklyn Apizza
Lala’s Brooklyn Apizza in East Williamsburg is the New Haven-inspired pizzeria and bar from the husband and wife duo behind Grimm Artisanal Ales and Physica Wines. Lala's pizza incorporates sourdough cultured from Grimm beer, house-milled brewer's malted wheat, and hyper seasonal ingredients.
Located at 990 Metropolitan Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11211, Lala’s Brooklyn Apizza operates as a pizza restaurant serving Brooklyn in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Pizza places in the United States run from a counter with two stools and a stack of boxes to a full sit-down pizzeria with a bar, and most neighborhood shops do all three things at once: dine-in, takeout and delivery. Ordering by phone is still common and often faster than an app, and many independents charge less when you call direct because there is no platform fee. Sizes are usually listed in inches (a small around 10", a large 14", an extra-large 16" or more), and a large feeds two to three adults. Slices are sold from a display case at New York-style counters and reheated to order; whole pies take 15-25 minutes at a busy shop. Most spots take cards and mobile pay, though a few older pizzerias remain cash-only, so check the door or the listing before you order.
The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. The most common schedule is 5–10 pm. It is closed on Monday, Tuesday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. No phone number is listed for this business, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best route for directions and any contact details Google has on file. More information is available on its website, grimmales.com.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 145 reviews, which is a strong result for a pizza restaurant in Brooklyn and suggests consistent service.
Brooklyn is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Traffic in Brooklyn peaks on weekday mornings and afternoons, so allow extra time then. Addresses read from the street number up to the city, state abbreviation and five-digit ZIP code; the map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I had high hopes for this place. I will start out with the positives, it’s mostly family friendly (no elevators so reconsider bringing a stroller), the bathrooms were clean and outside space was nice. Now why I probably would not go back is the service—almost everything is self serve. It’s one thing to nicely respond that “the plates are over etc” but another to you you off mid sentence and direct you elsewhere when you come to the staff for help. The pizzas were not that great, the top one for us was the pepperoni. I tried the chicken buffalo and the plain one but it wasn’t what I expected.

This place is 2 business in one location. Grimm’s Ale House & Lala’s Apizza. The sign & door for Lala’s looks like it leads to a staircase that goes up. But fortunately for me that door was locked.. So I figured out that I had to go into Grimm’s to access the pizza place. It’s really a micro brewery with huge tanks of beer in the back. A small bar in the front and communal tables spread around.. Very no nonsense. The alcohol and other drinks seems to be just their in-house brand.. The real star of this place is the pizza. Very similar to the pizzas that you can get in New Haven, Connecticut.. the char on the bottom looks burnt so make sure you like that before you go here. We met Dustin who makes the pizza and he was very friendly and professional.. plenty of locals patronize this establishment. Reasonably priced.. Card payments are accepted. I’m sure it gets very busy when the weather is nice outside. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try we will definitely be going back.. Thank you to the owner for responding. We look forward to patronizing your establishment again soon. ESJ

Wow, this spot is amazing for delicious craft beer and super flavorful food with locally sourced ingredients (I love that they actually provide the suppliers for all of them!) I loved the spontaneous ales - both the Koyo Berry and Apricots & Riesling Grapes varieties in their Ambient Fizz line are amazing! For food, I highly recommend the Bacon & Jam pizza witn mozzarella, Benton’s bacon, bucheron goat cheese, and house-made fig jam. Such a perfect salty-sweet combo! The malted chocolate chip cookie is also SO GOOD!! Can’t wait to come back and try more 😍
